The first question: adjust in Mississippi or process in Juárez
Every family green card case from Jackson starts with how the immigrant came into the country. A spouse, parent or child of a U.S. citizen who was inspected at a border crossing or an airport, even on a visa that later expired, can usually adjust status without leaving Mississippi. A relative who crossed without inspection generally cannot, and must finish the case at a U.S. consulate abroad. For Mexican nationals that is the Consulate General in Ciudad Juárez, usually after an I-601A provisional waiver is approved. Families of Mississippi National Guard members and other reservists have one more option: the undocumented spouse, parent or child of a member of the Selected Reserve can ask USCIS for parole in place, which can open the door to adjusting status here.
Mississippi has no USCIS field office, and USCIS assigns Jackson ZIP codes to the New Orleans Field Office. The I-130 petition and I-485 application are filed by mail or online. The first appointment is biometrics, which for Jackson, Pearl, Madison and Clinton residents is normally the Jackson Application Support Center, 100 West Capitol Street, Suite 727, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The appointment notice controls if it names another site. The interview follows at the USCIS New Orleans Field Office, 1250 Poydras Street, Suite 1800, New Orleans, LA 70113. The officer tests whether the marriage is genuine, reviews every entry and arrest, and goes through the public charge questions. Adjustment applications filed on or after September 18, 2026 are decided under the new public charge rule and must use the matching I-485 edition. On our review date USCIS posted that it completes 80 percent of I-130 petitions for immediate relatives within about 25.5 months.
When the relative entered without inspection, the I-130 is approved, the case moves to the National Visa Center, and the I-601A waiver is filed with USCIS while the immigrant stays home in Mississippi. USCIS posted 28 months for 80 percent of those waivers on our review date. Only after the waiver is approved does the interview get scheduled in Ciudad Juárez. Our Juárez office arranges the medical exam at a panel clinic, the visit to the Applicant Service Center and the interview, and the consulate tells applicants to plan on at least three business days in the city. Before travel, a Mexican national needs a valid passport, which the Mexican Consulate in New Orleans, 901 Convention Center Boulevard, Suite 119, issues to residents of Mississippi.
From the Jackson office on Ridgewood Road we review the immigrant's complete history before anything is filed, choose the path, prepare the petition, the application or the waiver with the civil documents, the affidavit of support and the evidence of the relationship, and answer any request for evidence. We prepare both spouses for the New Orleans interview and attend it with them. For consular cases our Juárez team takes over before the interview. After approval we calendar the removal of conditions for marriages under two years old and the first date to apply for citizenship.

Questions from Jackson clients
Where is the green card interview for Jackson, Mississippi?
At the USCIS New Orleans Field Office, 1250 Poydras Street, Suite 1800, New Orleans, LA 70113. Mississippi has no USCIS field office, so Jackson ZIP codes are assigned to New Orleans. Your interview notice confirms the date, time and address.
Where do I go for green card fingerprints in Jackson?
Usually the Jackson Application Support Center, 100 West Capitol Street, Suite 727, Jackson, MS, open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring the appointment notice and photo identification. If your notice names a different location, follow the notice.
How much does a green card lawyer cost in Jackson?
Consultations are available in person at the Jackson office, by phone or by video, in English and Spanish, and fees are discussed at the consultation.
Can my husband get a green card without leaving Mississippi?
Yes, if he was inspected when he entered, for example with a visa or a border crossing card, and you are a U.S. citizen. If he entered without inspection he generally must interview in Ciudad Juárez after an I-601A waiver, unless parole in place or another exception applies. His entry history decides it.
How long does a marriage green card take from Jackson?
On our review date USCIS posted about 25.5 months to complete 80 percent of I-130 petitions for spouses of U.S. citizens, and the New Orleans office posts its own figure for the I-485. Consular cases with an I-601A take longer, because the waiver alone was posted at 28 months.
Do I need a lawyer for my green card interview in Ciudad Juárez?
Attorneys do not go into the consular interview room, but preparation decides most of these cases. Our Juárez office, in the same city as the consulate, prepares you, arranges the medical exam and the Applicant Service Center visit, and is there if the consulate raises a problem.
My wife's family is in the National Guard. Can she get parole in place?
Parole in place is available to the spouse, parent, son or daughter of a member of the Selected Reserve, which includes the National Guard, as well as active-duty members and qualifying veterans. It is requested from USCIS on Form I-131, and if granted it can allow the relative to adjust status in Mississippi instead of traveling to Juárez.
I had a case from the 2019 raids. Can I still get a green card through my spouse?
Possibly. If the case is still pending, the immigration judge may be able to grant adjustment of status. If there is a final order, the order has to be addressed with an I-212 or a motion to reopen before a consular case can work. Bring every court paper you have.
Where do I renew my Mexican passport before the Juárez interview?
The Mexican Consulate in New Orleans, 901 Convention Center Boulevard, Suite 119, covers Mississippi. Renew the passport well before the interview is scheduled, since the consulate in Juárez will not proceed without one.
